Satay

This is a fabulous treat with Indonesian Fried rice or for summer barbecue’s with a fresh salad and French bread

Ingredients:

Sate:

1 pound Pork tenderloin, Pork Centerloin or Chicken breast.

Marinade:

  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • ¼ cup Soya sauce
  • ¼ cup Tomato Cetchup
  • 1 Tsp Coreander Powder
  • 1 Tsp Lemon Grass (= Serehpowder)
  • 1 Tsp Cumin (= Djintan)
  • 1 Tsp hot Chili paste
  • ¼ cup Red Wine (optional)
  • ¼ cup water
Preparation:

Dice the meat into 1 inch square cubes and put onto bambo skewers (3-5 per stick)

Combine all the marinade ingredients into a food processor and make into a smooth paste.

Poor this paste over the prepared sate’s and leave to marinate for at least 4 hours in the refrigerator.

Cook the sate’s on the barbecue or under the grill for 5-10 minutes until done to your taste and serve with hot Peanut Sauce or Ketjap sauce for sate.
